The Technological University for the South-East Ireland (TUSEI) consortium today 19th July 2018 announced the appointment of Andy Shenstone as external Chair of the TUSE project steering Group.
Andy is an experienced higher education consultant who has worked with universities, higher education colleges, and sector agencies for over eighteen years. He supports university and agency executive teams and governing bodies in delivering strategically critical transformation initiatives.
Speaking about the appointment, Mr Jim Moore, Chairman of the Governing Body of Waterford Institute of Technology said, “Andy, as Chair, will play a really significant role in assisting the consortium to deliver a world-class university for the South East. His expertise in shaping institutions’ future directionand responding to the impact of changes in government policy at a sectoral and institutional level will be invaluable.
Mr John Moore, Chairman of the Governing Body of Institute of Technology Carlow explained that, “This is a critical time for both Waterford and Carlow as we prepare to make our submission for TU designation. We plan to deliver a university for the region that will have a real impact on peoples lives, which will encourage people to live here, to work and study here, which will encourage companies to locate here, to create their business here. Our plans for our university are ambitious and we believe that Andy has the skillset too help us realise them.”
His experience encompasses over 50 UK and overseas HEIs and all of the sector’s main agencies, representative bodies and funding councils, typically working to chief executives and vice-chancellors. Andy has been an active member of the Hefce /Leadership Foundation Innovation and Transformation Fund Steering Group and also of Universities UK’s Diamond review implementation panel. Previously Andy founded and led Capita’s higher education advisory business for five years and prior to that Oakleigh’s higher education consulting practice.
The Technological University of the South East Ireland (TUSEI) consortium is actively working towards the submission of a formal application for Technological University designation by the end of September this year.
